Peninsular Ranges
The Peninsular Ranges are a series of mountain ranges located in southern California and northern Mexico. They extend from the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir in Baja California, Mexico, to the San Jacinto Mountains in California. This region is characterized by rugged terrain, diverse ecosystems, and a variety of plant and animal species.
These ranges are part of the larger Pacific Coast Ranges and are known for their unique geology, including granite and metamorphic rock formations. The Cleveland National Forest and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park are notable protected areas within the Peninsular Ranges, offering recreational opportunities and preserving the area's natural beauty.
