Pencil Fish
The Pencil Fish, scientifically known as *Nannostomus*, is a small freshwater fish native to the rivers and streams of South America. They are characterized by their elongated bodies and distinctive horizontal stripes, which resemble pencil lines. These fish typically grow to about 2 to 4 inches in length and are popular in home aquariums due to their peaceful nature and attractive appearance.
Pencil Fish thrive in schools and prefer well-planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots. They are omnivorous, feeding on small insects, crustaceans, and plant matter. Their gentle temperament makes them suitable for community tanks with other small, non-aggressive species.
