Penalty Shootout
A penalty shootout is a method used in sports, particularly in soccer, to determine the winner of a match that ends in a draw after regular and extra time. In this process, each team takes turns attempting to score from the penalty mark, which is 12 yards from the goal. A designated player from each team kicks the ball while the opposing team's goalkeeper tries to stop it.
Typically, each team is allowed five penalty kicks, and the team with the most goals after these attempts wins the shootout. If the score remains tied, the shootout continues in a sudden-death format, where teams alternate kicks until one team scores and the other does not.
