Pelog
Pelog is a traditional seven-tone scale used in the music of Indonesia, particularly in the islands of Java and Bali. It is characterized by its unique intervals, which create a distinct sound that differs from the more common Western scales. The scale is often used in conjunction with the Slendro scale, another traditional Indonesian scale that has five tones.
In Gamelan music, which is an ensemble music form from Indonesia, the Pelog scale plays a crucial role. Instruments such as gongs, metallophones, and drums are commonly used to perform music based on this scale. The combination of Pelog and Slendro contributes to the rich and diverse musical heritage of Indonesia.
