Pelobates Fuscus
Pelobates fuscus, commonly known as the common spadefoot toad, is a species of amphibian found primarily in parts of Europe and Asia. This toad is characterized by its distinctive spade-like structure on its hind feet, which it uses for digging burrows in sandy or loose soil. It typically has a brown or grayish coloration, allowing it to blend into its environment.
These toads are primarily nocturnal and are most active during the warmer months. They breed in temporary ponds, where they lay their eggs. The tadpoles develop quickly, allowing them to take advantage of the short-lived water bodies before they dry up.
