PbO
PbO, or lead(II) oxide, is a chemical compound composed of lead and oxygen. It appears as a yellow or reddish powder and is commonly used in various applications, including ceramics, glass, and as a pigment in paints. PbO can also serve as a precursor for other lead compounds.
In addition to its industrial uses, PbO has important roles in the production of lead-acid batteries, where it acts as an active material in the positive plate. However, due to the toxicity of lead, handling PbO requires caution to prevent health risks associated with lead exposure.
