Pavlopetri
Pavlopetri is an ancient submerged city located off the coast of Peloponnese, Greece. It is believed to be one of the oldest known underwater cities, dating back to around 2800 BC. The site features well-preserved structures, including streets, buildings, and a cemetery, providing valuable insights into early Aegean civilization.
The city was discovered in 1967 by underwater archaeologist Nicholas Flemming. It is situated at a depth of about 4 meters and covers an area of approximately 15 acres. Pavlopetri is significant for its archaeological importance, as it offers a glimpse into the urban planning and lifestyle of ancient societies.
