Patrona Halil Revolt
The Patrona Halil Revolt was an uprising that took place in the Ottoman Empire in 1730. It was led by a former janissary named Patrona Halil, who rallied discontented citizens against the government. The revolt was primarily fueled by dissatisfaction with economic hardships, high taxes, and the perceived corruption of the ruling elite.
The revolt resulted in the overthrow of Sultan Ahmed III and the end of the Tulip Era, a period known for its cultural and artistic advancements. Following the revolt, the new Sultan, Mahmud I, implemented reforms to stabilize the empire and address the grievances that had sparked the uprising.
