Patrick Ewing is a retired professional basketball player, widely regarded as one of the greatest centers in the history of the NBA. Born on August 5, 1962, in Kingston, Jamaica, he played college basketball at Georgetown University, where he led the team to a national championship in 1984. Ewing was selected as the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.
During his 17-year NBA career, Ewing was an 11-time All-Star and won the NBA Rookie of the Year award in 1986. He is known for his scoring ability, shot-blocking skills, and strong defensive presence. After retiring, Ewing transitioned to coaching and has served as the head coach for the Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team.
