Passionists
The Passionists are a Roman Catholic religious order founded in 1720 by St. Paul of the Cross. Their mission focuses on the contemplation of the Passion of Christ, emphasizing the importance of Jesus' suffering and sacrifice for humanity. Members of the order, known as Passionist priests and brothers, engage in various ministries, including preaching, education, and social justice work.
Passionists are recognized by their distinctive black habit, which symbolizes their commitment to the Passion of Christ. They also promote devotion to the Passion of Christ through retreats, spiritual guidance, and community service, aiming to deepen the faith of individuals and foster a greater understanding of Christ's love.
