Passerina Ciris
Passerina ciris, commonly known as the painted bunting, is a small songbird native to North America. Males are particularly striking, featuring bright blue heads, green backs, and red underparts, while females are more subdued in color, primarily green and yellow. These birds are often found in shrubby areas, gardens, and along the edges of forests.
The painted bunting migrates between its breeding grounds in the southern United States and wintering areas in Mexico and Central America. They primarily feed on seeds and insects, using their strong beaks to crack open seeds. Their vibrant colors and melodic songs make them a favorite among birdwatchers.
