Parkes Radio Telescope
The Parkes Radio Telescope is a large radio telescope located in Parkes, New South Wales, Australia. It was completed in 1961 and has a dish diameter of 64 meters, making it one of the most significant radio observatories in the world. The telescope is primarily used for astronomical research, including the study of pulsars and galaxies.
In addition to its scientific contributions, the Parkes Radio Telescope played a crucial role in the Apollo 11 mission, receiving signals from the first moon landing in 1969. It continues to be an important facility for both national and international space research projects.
