Paris Summit
The Paris Summit refers to the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP21, held in Paris, France. This significant event brought together representatives from nearly 200 countries to negotiate a global agreement aimed at combating climate change. The main outcome was the Paris Agreement, which set targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and limiting global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
The summit emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing climate change and encouraged countries to submit their own plans, known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), to achieve these goals. The agreement also highlighted the need for financial support to help developing nations adapt to climate impacts and transition to sustainable energy sources.
