Parent Effectiveness Training
Parent Effectiveness Training (PET) is a program designed to help parents improve their communication and relationship skills with their children. Developed by Dr. Thomas Gordon in the 1960s, PET focuses on teaching parents how to listen actively, express their feelings, and resolve conflicts without resorting to punishment or rewards.
The training emphasizes the importance of understanding children's needs and perspectives, fostering a cooperative family environment. By using techniques such as role-playing and group discussions, parents learn to create a more positive and respectful atmosphere at home, ultimately leading to healthier parent-child relationships.
