Pan Troglodytes
Pan Troglodytes, commonly known as the common chimpanzee, is a species of great ape found in the forests and savannas of Africa. They are known for their high intelligence, social behavior, and ability to use tools. Chimpanzees live in communities and exhibit complex social structures, often forming strong bonds with one another.
These primates have a varied diet that includes fruits, leaves, seeds, and occasionally insects or small animals. Pan Troglodytes shares about 98% of their DNA with humans, making them one of our closest living relatives. Their conservation status is currently listed as endangered due to habitat loss and poaching.
