Paleologo
The term "Paleologo" refers to the Paleologos dynasty, which was the last ruling family of the Byzantine Empire. This dynasty began with Michael VIII Paleologos, who reclaimed Constantinople in 1261, marking the restoration of Byzantine rule after the Latin occupation. The Paleologos family ruled until the fall of Constantinople in 1453.
The Paleologos dynasty is known for its efforts to revive the Byzantine culture and arts during a time of decline. They faced numerous challenges, including military threats from the Ottoman Empire and internal strife. Despite these difficulties, the Paleologos rulers contributed to the preservation of Greek heritage and Orthodox Christianity.
