Palaiologos Civil War
The Palaiologos Civil War was a conflict that occurred in the Byzantine Empire during the late 14th century, primarily between 1373 and 1379. It involved rival factions led by members of the Palaiologos dynasty, particularly John V Palaiologos and his son Andronikos IV Palaiologos. The war was fueled by political power struggles and disputes over the throne.
The civil war weakened the Byzantine Empire, which was already facing external threats from the Ottoman Empire. The conflict ended with a compromise, allowing John V to retain the throne while granting Andronikos a position of power. This internal strife further destabilized the empire during a critical period in its history.
