Painted Turtle
The Painted Turtle is a small freshwater turtle native to North America. It is easily recognized by its colorful markings, which include red, yellow, and orange stripes on its neck and limbs. The shell, or carapace, is typically dark green or black with a smooth surface. Painted turtles are commonly found in ponds, lakes, and slow-moving rivers.
These turtles are omnivorous, feeding on a diet of aquatic plants, insects, and small fish. They are known for basking in the sun on logs or rocks to regulate their body temperature. Painted Turtles are social creatures and often gather in groups.
