Pacific Golden-Plover
The Pacific Golden-Plover is a medium-sized shorebird known for its striking plumage. During the breeding season, it displays a mix of black and gold feathers, while in non-breeding plumage, it appears more muted with brown and white tones. This bird is commonly found in coastal areas and grasslands across the Pacific Islands and parts of North America.
These plovers are migratory, traveling long distances between their breeding grounds in the Arctic and wintering sites in Hawaii and other tropical regions. They primarily feed on insects and small invertebrates, using their keen eyesight to spot food on the ground.
