Paca
The paca is a large rodent native to Central and South America. It belongs to the family Cuniculidae and is known for its distinctive appearance, featuring a round body, short legs, and a spotted coat. Pacas are primarily nocturnal and are often found near water sources, where they feed on fruits, seeds, and aquatic plants.
Pacas are excellent swimmers and can dive underwater to escape predators. They typically weigh between 10 to 15 kilograms and can grow up to 80 centimeters in length. These rodents play a vital role in their ecosystem by dispersing seeds, which helps maintain the health of their habitats.
