Pāṇini
Pāṇini was an ancient Indian grammarian, known for his work on Sanskrit grammar. He lived around the 4th century BCE and is best known for his text, the Ashtadhyayi, which systematically describes the rules of Sanskrit syntax and morphology. His analytical approach laid the foundation for the study of linguistics in India and influenced many later scholars.
Pāṇini's grammar consists of around 4,000 rules, which are concise and precise. His work not only helped preserve the Sanskrit language but also contributed to the development of linguistic theory worldwide. His methods of analysis are still relevant in modern linguistics and computational language processing.
