The Pánuco River Basin is located in northeastern Mexico, primarily within the states of San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz. This basin covers an area of approximately 100,000 square kilometers and is characterized by a diverse range of ecosystems, including forests, wetlands, and agricultural lands. The Pánuco River itself flows for about 500 kilometers, eventually emptying into the Gulf of Mexico.

It is also home to several towns and cities, contributing to the local culture and economy. The river and its tributaries are vital for irrigation and provide water resources for both urban and rural communities.
