Overseas Highway
The Overseas Highway is a scenic roadway in the Florida Keys, connecting the islands from Key Largo to Key West. It spans approximately 113 miles and includes 42 bridges, with the most famous being the Seven Mile Bridge. This highway offers stunning views of the ocean and is a popular route for tourists and locals alike.
Constructed in the 1930s, the Overseas Highway was built on the remnants of the Florida East Coast Railway, which was damaged by a hurricane in 1935. The highway is part of U.S. Route 1 and serves as a vital transportation link for residents and visitors to the Keys.
