Ouse Washes
The Ouse Washes is a large area of floodplain located in the eastern part of England, primarily in Cambridgeshire. It is formed by the River Ouse and serves as a natural flood management system, helping to control water levels during periods of heavy rainfall. The area is characterized by its wetland habitats, which support a diverse range of wildlife.
This region is also recognized for its importance in birdwatching, as it provides a habitat for many migratory birds. The Ouse Washes is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is part of the Great Fen Project, aimed at restoring and enhancing the natural environment.
