Osteopathic Physician
An Osteopathic Physician, or DO, is a medical doctor who practices a holistic approach to healthcare. They are trained to consider the whole person, including physical, emotional, and environmental factors, when diagnosing and treating patients. DOs complete medical school and are licensed to prescribe medication, perform surgery, and provide comprehensive care.
In addition to conventional medical training, osteopathic physicians receive specialized education in the musculoskeletal system. This includes hands-on techniques known as Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), which can help alleviate pain and improve function. DOs work in various medical fields, providing care in hospitals, clinics, and private practices.
