Osteochondromas
Osteochondromas are benign bone tumors that typically develop during childhood or adolescence. They are characterized by an outgrowth of bone and cartilage, often appearing near the growth plates of long bones, such as the femur or tibia. These tumors are usually painless and may not require treatment unless they cause discomfort or interfere with movement.
Most osteochondromas are solitary, but some individuals may develop multiple tumors, a condition known as hereditary multiple exostoses. Diagnosis is often made through imaging techniques like X-rays or MRI. Surgical removal may be considered if the tumor causes complications or significant symptoms.
