Oromo People's Democratic Organization
The Oromo People's Democratic Organization (OPDO) is a political party in Ethiopia that primarily represents the interests of the Oromo people, the largest ethnic group in the country. Established in 1991, the OPDO was formed as part of the broader coalition known as the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), which aimed to promote ethnic federalism and regional autonomy.
The OPDO has played a significant role in Ethiopian politics, particularly in the Oromia region. It focuses on issues such as economic development, cultural rights, and political representation for the Oromo people. In recent years, the party has undergone reforms to address public demands for greater democracy and inclusivity within the political system.
