Orinoco crocodile
The Orinoco crocodile is a large reptile native to the Orinoco River basin in South America, primarily found in Venezuela and Colombia. It is one of the largest crocodile species, reaching lengths of up to 5 meters (16 feet). This crocodile has a distinctive appearance, with a broad snout and a dark olive-brown coloration, which helps it blend into its riverine habitat.
Orinoco crocodiles are primarily carnivorous, feeding on fish, birds, and small mammals. They are considered critically endangered due to habitat loss, hunting, and illegal trade. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this species and its natural environment.
