Order of Malta
The Order of Malta, officially known as the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes, and of Malta, is a Catholic lay religious order. Founded in the 11th century, it originally focused on providing care for sick pilgrims in the Holy Land. Over the centuries, it evolved into a chivalric order with a mission of humanitarian aid and medical assistance.
Today, the Order of Malta operates in over 120 countries, offering medical services, disaster relief, and social programs. It maintains diplomatic relations with many nations and has observer status at the United Nations, emphasizing its commitment to humanitarian work and international cooperation.
