Order Of The Patriotic War
The Order of the Patriotic War was a military decoration established by the Soviet Union on May 20, 1942. It was awarded to soldiers and commanders for their bravery and leadership during the Great Patriotic War, which was the Eastern Front of World War II. The order recognized acts of heroism and significant contributions to the war effort against the Nazi Germany invasion.
The order had two classes: the first class was awarded for exceptional leadership and valor, while the second class recognized notable achievements in combat. Over 1.5 million awards were given, making it one of the most common military honors in the Soviet Union.
