Orbital Cavity
The orbital cavity is a bony structure in the skull that houses the eye and its associated structures. It is also known as the eye socket and provides protection and support for the eye, as well as space for muscles, nerves, and blood vessels that are essential for vision and eye movement.
The orbital cavity is formed by several bones, including the frontal bone, zygomatic bone, and maxilla. It is roughly cone-shaped, with the base facing the front of the face and the apex pointing towards the back of the skull. This cavity plays a crucial role in the overall function of the visual system.
