Operation Chromite
Operation Chromite was a military operation conducted during the Korean War in September 1950. It involved a surprise amphibious landing at Incheon, a strategic port city in South Korea. The operation aimed to cut off North Korean supply lines and recapture the capital, Seoul, which had fallen to North Korean forces earlier in the war.
Led by General Douglas MacArthur, the operation was executed on September 15, 1950, and involved approximately 75,000 troops. The successful landing turned the tide of the war, allowing United Nations forces to push back the North Korean army and regain control over much of South Korea.
