Oliver Reginald Tambo
Oliver Reginald Tambo was a prominent South African anti-apartheid activist and politician. Born on October 27, 1917, he played a crucial role in the African National Congress (ANC), helping to lead the struggle against the oppressive apartheid regime. Tambo served as the ANC's president from 1967 to 1991, advocating for international support and solidarity in the fight for racial equality.
Tambo was instrumental in establishing the ANC's armed wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe, in 1961. He spent many years in exile, working to raise awareness about the injustices in South Africa. His leadership and dedication significantly contributed to the eventual dismantling of apartheid and the establishment of a democratic South Africa.
