Olive Ridley Sea Turtle
The Olive Ridley Sea Turtle is a small species of sea turtle known for its olive-colored shell. They are primarily found in warm waters of the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Atlantic Ocean. These turtles are famous for their unique nesting behavior, where thousands gather on the same beach to lay eggs, a phenomenon known as "arribada."
Olive Ridley turtles primarily feed on jellyfish, crustaceans, and other marine invertebrates. They play a crucial role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems. Unfortunately, they face threats from habitat loss, pollution, and fishing practices, leading to their classification as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
