Old Welsh
Old Welsh is an early form of the Welsh language, spoken in Wales from around the 6th to the 12th centuries. It evolved from Common Brittonic, the language of the Celtic tribes in Britain. Old Welsh is characterized by its distinct grammar and vocabulary, which differ significantly from modern Welsh.
The language is primarily known through historical texts, such as poetry and legal documents. These writings provide insight into the culture and society of early medieval Wales. Over time, Old Welsh gradually transformed into Middle Welsh, which further developed into the modern Welsh language spoken today.
