Olaudah Equiano was an 18th-century African writer and abolitionist. Born in what is now Nigeria, he was captured and sold into slavery at a young age. Equiano eventually purchased his freedom and settled in England, where he became an influential figure in the movement to end the transatlantic slave trade.
Equiano is best known for his autobiography, titled *The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano*. This book provided a firsthand account of the horrors of slavery and helped raise awareness about the plight of enslaved people. His work contributed significantly to the abolitionist efforts in Britain and beyond.
