Oklahoma District Courts
The Oklahoma District Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction in the state of Oklahoma. They handle a wide range of cases, including civil, criminal, family, and probate matters. Each of the 77 counties in Oklahoma has at least one district court, and these courts are organized into 27 judicial districts.
District court judges are elected to serve four-year terms, and they have the authority to hear appeals from lower courts and administrative agencies. The decisions made in the district courts can be appealed to the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals or the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, depending on the case type.
