Off Spin
Off spin is a type of bowling in cricket where the bowler spins the ball from the off side to the leg side of a right-handed batsman. This is achieved by gripping the ball with the index and middle fingers, while the thumb rests on the seam. The bowler delivers the ball with a flick of the wrist, creating a spin that can deceive the batsman, making it difficult to predict the ball's trajectory.
Off spinners often aim to induce mistakes from batsmen, leading to catches or bowled dismissals. Famous off spinners include Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan, who have excelled in this bowling style. Off spin is particularly effective on turning pitches, where the ball can grip and turn sharply.
