OTR (Overtime)
Overtime, often abbreviated as OTR, refers to the hours worked beyond an employee's standard work schedule, typically exceeding 40 hours per week in the United States. Employers are usually required to pay employees a higher wage for these extra hours, often at a rate of 1.5 times their regular pay, known as overtime pay.
The purpose of overtime is to compensate workers for their additional time and effort, while also encouraging employers to manage their workforce effectively. Overtime regulations can vary by country and industry, and some employees may be exempt from receiving overtime pay based on their job roles or salary levels.
