O'odham Language
The O'odham language, also known as Papago or Pima, is a Uto-Aztecan language spoken by the O'odham people in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. It has two main dialects: Papago, primarily spoken in Arizona, and Pima, found in Sonora, Mexico.
O'odham is an important part of the cultural identity of the O'odham people. Efforts are ongoing to revitalize the language, as it faces challenges from declining speakers. Educational programs and community initiatives aim to teach younger generations the language and preserve its rich heritage.
