Nurse Licensure Compact
The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) is an agreement among participating states in the United States that allows registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs) to practice across state lines with a single license. This compact aims to enhance access to care, especially in underserved areas, by simplifying the licensing process for nurses.
Under the NLC, nurses who hold a multistate license can work in any member state without needing additional licenses. This initiative promotes mobility for nurses and helps address workforce shortages, ultimately improving healthcare delivery across the nation.
