Numbat
The numbat is a small marsupial native to Australia, known for its distinctive striped back and long, pointed snout. It primarily feeds on termites, using its sharp claws to dig into termite mounds. Numbats are diurnal, meaning they are active during the day, and they have a unique habit of using their long tongue to extract insects from their nests.
Numbats are about the size of a small cat, with a body length of 20 to 30 centimeters. They are solitary animals and prefer open woodlands and forests. Unfortunately, their population has declined due to habitat loss and predation by introduced species like foxes and cats. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this unique species.
