Nuestra Señora de Atocha
Nuestra Señora de Atocha is a famous Spanish galleon that sank in 1622 near the Florida Keys. It was part of a fleet transporting gold, silver, and other treasures from the New World to Spain. The ship was named after the Virgin of Atocha, a revered figure in Catholicism.
In 1985, treasure hunter Mel Fisher discovered the wreckage of Nuestra Señora de Atocha, leading to the recovery of millions of dollars in gold and silver coins, as well as precious artifacts. The ship's story has become a symbol of adventure and the quest for lost treasure in maritime history.
