Nubian Pyramids
The Nubian Pyramids are a group of ancient pyramids located in Sudan, primarily in the region of Nubia. Built between 2600 BCE and 300 CE, these structures served as royal tombs for the kings and queens of the Kushite dynasty. Unlike the more famous Egyptian pyramids, Nubian pyramids are generally smaller and have a steeper angle.
There are over 200 known Nubian pyramids, with the most significant sites found at Meroë and Napata. These pyramids are characterized by their unique architectural style, featuring a rectangular base and a narrow, pointed top. The Nubian pyramids reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Kushite civilization.
