Novocaine
Novocaine is a local anesthetic commonly used in dental procedures to numb specific areas of the mouth. It works by blocking nerve signals in the body, preventing pain sensations from reaching the brain. This allows patients to undergo treatments like fillings or extractions with minimal discomfort.
Although Novocaine was once the most popular anesthetic, it has largely been replaced by newer agents such as lidocaine, which offer faster onset and longer-lasting effects. Despite this, Novocaine remains a well-known term in dentistry and is often associated with the experience of dental care.
