Novocain
Novocain is a local anesthetic commonly used in dentistry to numb specific areas of the mouth during procedures. Its active ingredient, procaine, blocks nerve signals in the targeted area, providing pain relief while allowing patients to remain awake and alert.
Developed in the early 20th century, Novocain was widely used for many years but has since been largely replaced by newer anesthetics that offer faster onset and longer-lasting effects. Despite this, it remains a well-known term associated with dental care and pain management.
