Norwegian Coast Artillery
The Norwegian Coast Artillery was a branch of the Norwegian Armed Forces responsible for coastal defense. Established in the early 20th century, it focused on protecting Norway's extensive coastline from naval threats. The artillery units operated various coastal guns and fortifications, ensuring maritime security.
During World War II, the Norwegian Coast Artillery played a crucial role in defending against German naval forces. After the war, the importance of coastal defense diminished, leading to the gradual disbandment of the artillery units. Today, remnants of their fortifications can still be found along the Norwegian coast, serving as historical sites.
