Northrop YB-49
The Northrop YB-49 was a prototype flying wing bomber developed by Northrop Corporation in the late 1940s. It featured a unique design with no distinct fuselage, relying on its wing structure for lift and stability. The aircraft was powered by four jet engines mounted on the wings, which contributed to its innovative aerodynamic profile.
The YB-49 was designed to be a long-range strategic bomber, capable of carrying heavy payloads. Although it showed promise during test flights, the project was ultimately canceled due to various technical challenges and the changing needs of the U.S. Air Force.
