Northern People's Congress
The Northern People's Congress (NPC) was a political party in Nigeria, founded in 1951. It emerged as a response to the growing demand for regional representation and autonomy in the northern region of the country. The party aimed to promote the interests of the northern people and played a significant role in Nigeria's political landscape during the pre-independence era.
The NPC was led by notable figures such as Ahmadu Bello, who became the first premier of Northern Nigeria. The party's influence waned after Nigeria's independence in 1960, as new political dynamics and parties emerged. Ultimately, the NPC contributed to shaping Nigeria's federal structure and regional politics.
