Northern Corroboree Frog
The Northern Corroboree Frog is a small, brightly colored amphibian native to the mountainous regions of southeastern Australia. It is known for its striking black and yellow markings, which help it blend into its natural habitat of wet sclerophyll forests and alpine areas. This species is particularly notable for its unique breeding behavior, where males call to attract females during the breeding season.
Unfortunately, the Northern Corroboree Frog is classified as critically endangered due to habitat loss, climate change, and disease, particularly the chytrid fungus. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this species, including habitat restoration and captive breeding programs, to ensure its survival in the wild.
